A Night of Fizzling Fun
From neurologist porn to Star Trek romance, The Mischief Company lit up Devonport’s Vic Theatre with a fizzy mix of wit, warmth, and wild imagination. Featuring a diverse crowd and something for everyone, this improv show brought heart, hilarity, and a whole lot of “don’t give a shit” charm.

The Vic is already a beautiful, intimate venue tucked into the cool charm of Devonport. Add a crowd spanning from mid-20s to late-80s, conversations about Looseness in a Lab (the latest porn flick starring neurologists), Supernova Algorithm Woman, and a love affair sparked over a dramatic Star Trek reading… and you get one word: Fizz.
Just like a soda pop on a hot day – or ice cream during one of this winter’s soggiest spells – The Mischief Company served up a refreshing cast, full of stories, sound effects, and some of the best facial expressions I’ve ever seen on stage.
I honestly can’t recommend this experience highly enough. It was so much fun. The five performers, plus their sexy host, made the whole room feel at home. Their playful interactions with the audience, both before and during the show, were bright, warm, and hilarious.
Each comedian brought something unique, and it all blended beautifully. Maybe it’s their age – because if the rumour’s true that after 40 you stop giving a shit, I fucking love that for them. I’ve seen other improv shows I enjoyed, but the life and experience here made it something special.
I was genuinely impressed – and now, I’m just hoping to score an invite to their next dinner party. If they’re not besties in real life, then honestly… what is real?
