Auckland Medical Revue: Back to the Suture
Time travel, trauma, and talking dildos? Med Revue 2025 is blasting into the past with Back to the Suture - a chaotic, comedy-packed show with a brilliant ensemble, sharp satire, and just the right amount of inappropriate humour. Get ready to laugh, cringe, and maybe cry (from laughter or burnout).
This year, the Auckland Medical Revue is tearing a hole in the space-time-med-school continuum with Back to the Suture - a musical comedy that throws two med students, Marty and Martina, into a time-travelling mess. Mid-assignment (naturally), they accidentally launch themselves back to the 1920s and crash-rotate through a world of dodgy diagnoses, gender discrimination, and historically questionable prescriptions, all in the name of desperately needed clinical experience.
What follows is a chaotic, hilarious journey through outdated medicine, institutionalised prejudice, and the absurdities of medical history. With a cast of over 100 med students, a live band, barbershop harmonies, and iconic choreography, Back to the Suture takes satire to surgical depths. Brace yourself for biting humour, wild antics, and jokes that flirt dangerously with the line between hilarious and HR nightmare.
Following the legendary chaos of past revues - who could forget Judith Collins with crabs, the unforgettable broken penis, someone’s epic struggle with a cucumber lodged where it definitely shouldn’t be, and of course the iconic walking and talking dildos and satisfier pros— this year promises even more madness, mayhem, and medically questionable antics. The running theme? Bullying. But don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of laughs, some emotional moments, and a few surprises we can’t legally describe here. Plus, we know everyone’s been patiently waiting an entire year to see the sexy nurses back on stage - and trust us, they won’t disappoint.
The cast consists of your favourite second and third-year med students who somehow juggle exams, hospital shifts, and putting on one of the most talked-about shows of the year, The entire production from script to backstage is student-run and all profits go straight to charity. After raising over$10,000 for the Cancer Society last year, this year we’re aiming to do the same for Doctors Without Borders - Médecins Sans Frontières.
Tickets are now available through the official Med Revue website! Keep an eye on Instagram and Facebook (@aucklandmedrevue) for all the pre-show prep and news.
Don’t miss your chance to see all things med school, unfiltered and unforgettable, in the most outrageous night out you’ll have all year.
