Continuing from yesterday's results for the voting tournament for Issue #8 of Craccum 2025 (People's Choice), a further 3 themes have now been permanently eliminated.
- What We Do In the Shadows Edition
- Comedy Edition
- Craccum The Musical Edition
Theme Tournament Commentary:
We all know it's a busy time of year for us students, and I may or may not have accidentally left yesterday's poll open for a few hours extra... whoopsie!
Now, so far in the tournament, most of the votes have been cast by midday, with maybe 1 or 2 stragglers coming in before the 4:30 shut-off. But not yesterday. When I checked the preliminary results at noon and began drafting my next update, we had received 40 votes. But the final total at 11 pm was 53!
And it was a very close battle between Craccum The Musical Edition and Things That Can Fit Inside A Mug Edition.
Because I left the polls open by accident, I had to do a recount and discard the 3 votes that were cast after the official 4:30 pm cut-off, which left Things That Can Fit Inside A Mug Edition with a slight 2.5% victory over Craccum The Musical Edition.
Now, before you report me to AUSA for election fraud, Things That Can Fit Inside A Mug Edition still had the W with the original 53 votes, but passing with a narrower 0.9% over Craccum The Musical Edition.
For Comedy Edition vs History Edition and What We Do In The Shadows Edition vs 2075 Edition, these extra votes didn't make a difference; those eliminated themes were doomed from the start. As we know, Craccum is a very serious student magazine with no jokes (that land at least).
