Bergman Gallery is hosting an exhibition of paintings that encapsulate whimsy and wholesome joy. Tanja McMillan is the brilliant artist behind Forbidden Fruits, featuring works that will leave you wanting to be a part of the nature wonderland she has created. Expect to see over 20 paintings with the cutest nymph-like creatures, countless flowers, and, of course, fruit!

The first painting you see is Fruits of a Floating World, which welcomes you with an ensemble of creatures painted in striking reds, pinks, and yellows. This particular piece is one of my favourites because it is the perfect introduction to McMillan’s world of strange yet endearing characters. The exhibit is filled with more curious characters and mystical creatures that morph into the surrounding flora and fruit. Their eyes lure you further into the paintings as they glint with mischief. Inspired by her cultural heritage and street art, McMillan’s art style is uniquely hers.

The exhibit combines the feminine and the surreal, creating a playful, edgy, and vibrant atmosphere. It brings back the nostalgic joy of childhood and limitless imagination. The paintings are a great reminder of art’s power to bring joy and magic to our lives.

Forbidden Fruits is a fantastic exhibit you should not miss. It will inspire you to embrace your creativity and inner child. Head over to Bergman Gallery before the exhibit finishes on the 27th of September!
