SET Evaluations: The Tea

Content Warning: Article contains refrences to self-harm and suicide
Last week on Tuesday, Craccum put out a post asking student to share their unfiltered thoughts on courses that they took this semester, thoughts that perhaps they weren't able to write on their actual SET evaluations.
Only six people responded to the form (like at this point just say you hate me), and unfortunately none of those responses was a confession about a hot tutor, but fear not, they were still entertaining!
Thank you to our anonymous participants. There's a picture of my cat as a present for you at the end of this article.
ENGLISH353 - Age of Shakespeare
"(It’s both a required course and choice in that you have to do one of this course or another). But the lecturer has no respect for anything, which is fun when it’s some guy who has been dead for 400 years, and sad when she thinks your work is too far fetched and doesn’t care for the rubric she sets in advance. Perhaps she should reconsider her course before she gives way to her own tragedy and pushes people away from her own subject."
Any feedback?
"Bring more joy and optimism."
COMMS100 - Communication, Technology and Culture
"Lecturer is infuriating because she makes course content so unnecessarily complicated by using difficult jargon. She mumbles in class and reads off lecture notes which she refuses to share with us, so save your breath and just stay home to download lecture transcripts after."
Any feedback?
"Would be great if panopto is uploaded straight after lessons instead of 24 hours after."
GEOG320 - Resource and Environmental Management
"Wow, what a wild ride this one has been. The course coordinator has been a bully with records documented for the past few years, personally affecting grading, posting coloured data visuals in black and white and covering the mic when saying something controversial saying it was an “IT problem.” Yet, he preaches about justice and equity. He is high up in position and involved in many Māori areas as the environmental management head title wise. The content is incredibly interesting but the person teaching makes the experience distasteful. He knows exactly what he is doing with his power and he is choosing to trip."
MEDSCI205 - The Physiology of Human Organ Systems
(Author's Note: This one got two responses sent for it. Interpret that however you wish.)
"This course has made me want to kill myself... twice. And we're not even through the semester yet, so there'll probably be a third breakdown during exam season.
The first time, I was given two weeks to write a 2500 word lab report, except the lecturer took a week to upload the damn template so it came down to just a week to write the damn thing! WITH REFERENCING! The second time, another lecturer uploaded graphs that were completely wrong - seriously, the one thing I trusted you NOT to do - and that caused a mental breakdown as I had no idea what was even going on anymore. And as I exit the second suicidal breakdown, I realise I'm 5 weeks behind on another course due to previous reasons. So I have 18 hours of lectures to watch in three days. Without revision. Good fun!
I no longer trust FMHS. Will do med at Otago, if I even decide to do med anymore. A pity, I quite like their ground floor water fountain."
"One of the worst managed courses with useless tutorials. Online only is a bane."
Any feedback?
"I'm fine. Please do not call an ambulance on me. Or do! I'd love to get out of the rest of my tests and exams, though it's probably not the best use of hospital resources."
Although I cannot call the ambulance for the last responder, there, I do hope things have gotten better for them, and if not, I hope they, and all of the responders take the inter-semester break to relax and recover from the horrors that they experienced during their classes. I know I definitely will be.
Good luck to everyone for their exams and assignments, you all got this!
